Compassion

Working at a non profit has really changed how I see things. Though its only been a couple days since I've started, I can't believe how selfishly I've acted all my life. Parents come in all the time with their little kids. Many of them struggle to pull the money together to send their children to day care while they work during the days.. and many times, its always the nicest ones that I wish I could say, "We'll take your child for free". It really hurts me to see some of them never come back because they can't afford it.

It really puts things into perspective because even though I'm not filthy rich, I go to a GREAT school, have GREAT friends, and spend way too much money on guilty pleasures (electronics, fun liquids). And you can see me bitching and moaning all the time because "I'm NOT HAPPY".

... And yet there are people out there and all they want to do is take care of their child, but struggle... and sometimes; unfortunately, those are the nicest, most sincere people you'll meet.
